Jimmie D. Weaver was born and raised here in Oklahoma. He completed BS in Chemistry (summa cum laude) with math and physics minors in 2004 from Southern Nazarene University where he was a defensive lineman on the football team during the team's early years. He spent the next year working in an immunology lab under the guidance of Prof. William Hildebrand (OU-HSC) where he learned many of the techniques used in biology, cell culture, ELISA assays, affinity chromatography, etc. After a year, Jimmie joined the graduate program at The University of Kansas where he worked with Prof. Jon Tunge. From 2005-2010 Jimmie developed and advanced the strategy of Pd-mediated decarboxylative coupling reactions for synthesis. After completion of his PhD, Jimmie took a post-doc position with Jon Ellman at Yale University in 2010, where he focused on catalyst development for asymmetric sulfinyl-urea catalyzed reactions. In the fall of 2012, Jimmie took an assistant professor position at Oklahoma State University where he has established an independent research program focused on novel ways of generating and exploiting reactive intermediates for useful applications such as C-H functionalization, fluorine sculpting, uphill catalysis, and environmental remediation of persistent organic pollutants and more recently transducer catalysis.  In 2017, Jimmie was promoted to Associate Professor of Chemistry. In 2024, Jimmie was promoted to full Professor, where he continues to develop novel concepts that significantly advance synthesis and technology.
